Our Mission

This website presents the findings of an ongoing scholarly investigation into the paintings, biography, and market history of Adolphe Monticelli. Our work draws from archival sources, technical analysis, and auction records to build the most complete picture yet of this remarkable artist.

Research Mission

This independent research initiative, generously supported by Peter and Liz Goulds, is dedicated to the study, contextualization, and renewed appreciation of Monticelli’s work. Conceived as both a research platform and a point of access, it brings together dispersed materials and ongoing inquiries into a shared intellectual framework.

At its core, the project is committed to the gathering and circulation of research. Current efforts include the development of a digital archive, the publication of original art historical and conservation studies, and the future organization of scholarly convenings designed to foster exchange across disciplines.

We invite curators, art historians, conservators, and students to engage with and contribute to this work. Whether developing an exhibition, writing a dissertation, or seeking primary sources, the Monticelli Research Project aims to serve as a space for sustained inquiry, dialogue, and discovery.
